Looking at shippers

OK, so I haven't been working on planning this trip with everything else going on but today I put a little time into it. Today, the subject was shipping the bike. So far, I found 3 possible companies that can ship the bike. For the most part, they are all about the same... Bike can be shipped door to door from Fremont to Long Island, I can load up my bags with all my stuff as long as they are on the bike and locked, pricing is ~$750 to $850, and it will take anywhere from 2 -4 weeks for the bike to get into NY.

The bike companies that I am currently investigating are Haul Bikes, JC Motors, and Shipping Made Easy. I still have to take a look at the customer reviews for the different companies but for now, I am just trying to identify the different companies out there.


This is something I didn't have to deal with for the first trip since I left from home on the bike. I am finding this adds a new complication to the trip that I didn't anticipate.

Setting Up the Travel Blog

OK, so this is my first entry as I set up this new blog for a trip traveling from Long Island NY to Fremont California. The initial plan is to have my bike shipped to Long Island where I will meet up with it. From there I am thinking I will be traveling north into Canada then west. I have not selected a route yet but this is the general idea. For now, I will be making some posted as I plan certain things like shipping the bike, booking my flight, bike preparation, and minor "practice" trips I make before heading out. For now, it will just be some test posts with some photos to make sure that the blog is set up and the layout is the way I want it.

I'll keep everyone posted as I make plans...
